In 2013 Murals Talk work with TLC Childcare to offer an arts class that explored painting techniques, steady hands, and creative ways to recycle. The class collected used bottle caps of every size and color. The mural was to be placed in the schools outdoor garden and play space, so the children talked about what they thought would look nice in their space. They took a lot of pride in creating a visually stimulating project that would not only be shared with fellow and future students, but one that would also be seen daily by the public walking or driving past! The children selected the animals, flowers, and other scenery to be included. They painted each piece and then selected where and how to place/ stack the recycled bottle caps to add a 3-dimensional effect to the mural.
The mural was painted on cut-out wooden panels that were anchored into the garden space and clear coated to protect from weather.
The children that worked on this mural were 4-5 years of age.
